Sustainable development
Responsibility, fibre by fibre
Natural fibres, careful sourcing and Canadian manufacturing — our approach to making yarn responsibly.
Our approach
Good yarn starts with good fibre.
The most sustainable garment is the one that lasts. We focus on fibres that are renewable and durable, on suppliers we trust, and on making yarn close to the customers who use it.

Natural fibre
Renewable & biodegradable
Wool grows back every year. It is naturally elastic, breathable and resilient, and at the end of its long life it biodegrades. Most of what we spin starts with natural fibre.

Sourcing
Careful sourcing
We buy Australian and New Zealand wool and specialty fibres from established suppliers. We are certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), so certified wool can be traced through every stage from farm to yarn.
Where our fibre comes from
Sourced at the origin
Every fibre we spin starts in the region best suited to growing it — explore them on the globe.
-
Fine, soft merino from the pastures of Australia and New Zealand — the heart of our worsted yarns.
-
Silky, warm alpaca fibre from herds raised in the high Andes of Peru.
-
Lustrous mulberry silk from China, adding drape and a soft sheen to our blends.
-
Downy yak and cashmere fibre gathered by herders on the Mongolian steppe.
-
BFL, a British longwool prized for its lustre, softness and beautiful drape.
-
Flax linen from Belgium, for a cool, crisp handle in warm-weather blends.
-
Lustrous, resilient mohair from the Angora goats of South Africa’s Karoo.
-
TENCEL™ Lyocell from Lenzing in Austria — a smooth, breathable cellulosic fibre made from responsibly sourced wood.

Made in Canada
Short supply chains
Spinning in Ontario keeps us close to our North American customers: shorter distances, faster deliveries and production under Canadian labour and environmental standards.
Durable by design
Well-constructed worsted yarns resist pilling and wear, so the products made from them last longer.
Right-sized runs
Flexible lot sizes help our customers buy what they need and avoid over-production.
Working together
We are happy to share fibre and process information to support your own sustainability reporting.
